My Stories
As an old sailor, I try to revive the telling of sea stories where truth and exaggeration mingle. All my stories have a basis in truth; how closely I follow the truth is up to the reader to figure out. After all, they are sea stories.
Children stories
I am also writing children's books, bringing my old shipmates along for the adventures. Mamma Bucci, Lieutenant Fahr, and more will venture the world on the Magical Icebreaker Glacier helping the wold become a better place.
Shipmates and friends, I have finished and refinished "The Great North Korean Invasion," based on a true story that happened in Charleston, up the Cooper River, in 1975. Another short story, "Chief JP and the Toilet Bowl," just a hint, it has nothing to do with plumbing, is ready for review. Anyone who would like to read, review, and send back your edits and thoughts on these two stories, send me a note on this page, and I’ll email them to you.
I am cleaning up "Time to Wake Up" based on my training after my Coast Guard retirement. With any luck, I’ll have it completed next week, along with “My Dad in WWII,” and will put them out for review.
If anyone would like to read the updated stories “Ginger” and “The Great Hussong’s Arm Wrestling Contest,” let me know, and I’ll email them to you.
My next book should be released soon, unless a legitimate publishing house wants to publish it. These are the ones that pay you for the rights to publish, not the ones you have to pay to publish. One company from England has offered to “look” at my work, but wouldn't publish before 2027. My response, “I may not be around in 2027,” did not go over very well.
I am looking for a few more speaking opportunities. If some of my old shipmates need a lack-of-motivation speaker, let me know. Note, I will not speak of politics or religion, so if you are looking for a right or left-wing speaker, I’m not your man.
It is interesting, I have story reading engagements, mainly “Ginger,” because it is so short. I do give the reasons for its writing and how this story evolved from a much longer story.
Along with writing, I love to travel, hike, and share my experiences. I am available for "Lack of Motivation" speaking and storytelling engagements.
