My Stories
As an old sailor, I try to revive the telling of sea stories where truth and exaggeration mingle. All my stories have a basis in truth; how closely I follow the truth is up to the reader to figure out. After all, they are sea stories.
Children stories
I am also writing children's books, bringing my old shipmates along for the adventures. Mamma Bucci, Lieutenant Fahr, and more will venture the world on the Magical Icebreaker Glacier helping the wold become a better place.
The Future
In my latest book, Sea Stories and More, I have added a short story about my father in WW2 titled "My Dad in WW2". I plan to add to this short story and turn it into a full novel someday.
I am writing stories based on my post-retirement employment. The first story is titled "Time to Wake Up." It is based on my recruitment and training following my retirement from the Coast Guard.
I will continue writing sea stories as memories return. The latest is "The Great North Korean Invasion," based on a true story of a North Korean fishing trawler pulling into Charleston harbor in 1975. Sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction.
I am searching for an agent to help me publish my next short story book, Life and Lies of Chief JP, and my next children's book, Chief JP and the Missing Krill. I've added a few more old shipmates for this one.
My speaking calendar is filling up, slowly. Next summer is almost gone with vacation time, reunions, and a possible hike over the Alps to Rome.
